Day 1 – Airport to Sigiriya

On your arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be awaited by a T2 Travels representative. After the meet and greet, we will head for Sigiriya.

On our way, we will visit the Golden Temple of Dambulla. One of the oldest Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka, which exists since the 1st century BC. It covers five caves, which over centuries were adorned with more than 150 statues of Buddha and 2,100 square meters of religious wall paintings. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered to be the best-preserved Buddhist cave temple complex on the island.

In the afternoon, we will have Jeep Safari through the Minneriya National Park. This protected area is situated on the shores of a 3rd century AD artificial lake, and important feeding grounds for animals in the surrounding area during the dry season. Here you can observe the largest herd of wild elephants, numbering between 150 and 200 individuals.

Day 2 – Sigiriya to Kandy

After breakfast at the hotel in Sigiriya, we will get on the road to Kandy.

The first place to visit on our way is the Sigiriya Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built in the 5th century AD on top of a 200 meters high rock, which dominates the plains and ancient city that surrounds it. Its pools and water fountains are a testament of ancient Sinhalese kingdom’s master builders.

Continuing on our way, we will visit a Spice and Herbal Garden. Where you can learn about many spices Sri Lanka traded with the rest of the world since ancient times. Among them, the most prominent place has the true cinnamon, made of the bark of a tree that is endemic for the Island.

After we arrive in Kandy, we will attend the cultural heritage show, Kandyan Dance Show, which starts at 4 pm. The elaborate dance routines considered the national dance of Sri Lanka, have developed over centuries from religious rituals and as an art form.

If time allows it, we will also visit a Gem Museum, traditional Wood Carving Factory, or a Batik Factory where the fabrics are painted using an ancient technique.

Day 3 – Kandy to Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast at the hotel in Sigiriya, we will start our trip to Nuwara Eliya.

In the morning we will visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic or Sri Dalada Maligawa, home to the sacred relic of Buddha’s tooth and one of the holiest places for Buddhists in Sri Lanka.

Continuing on our way, we will visit the Royal Botanic Garden in Peradeniya. Home to more than 4,000 different plant species and one of the largest collections of orchids in the world.

Our next stop will be a visit to Tea Factory, where you can learn about the history and process of production of some of the best tea in the world.

Afterward, we will visit Shri Bhakta Hanuman Temple, dedicated to a member of the Hindu pantheon and one of the central characters of the epic Ramayana, Lord Hanuman. A short distance from the temple is Ramboda Ella, a 109 meters tall and 11th tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka.

Arriving in Nuwara Eliya, we will spend leisure time on Lake Gregory, a favored spot for relaxation since the 19th century. Here you can relax, fish, go on a boat or jet ski ride.

Day 4 – Nuwara Eliya to Yala

We will start our day early in the morning. Breakfast is provided in the form of a takeaway in the Horton Plains National Park.

Our first stop will be the Horton Plains National Park. Nature reserve, which most astonishing feature is the World’s End, a 1,200 meters sheer precipice which offers a captivating view of the valley below. To enjoy this view, we must reach World’s End before the morning mist settle in.

Continuing on our way, we will visit the Ravana Falls and Ravana Ella Cave, two places related to the captivity of princess Sitha, as described in the epic Ramayana.

Then, we will arrive at Yala National Park, the most famous national park on the island, with such beauty that it can rival the more lauded African national parks. Its Block I is world-famous as the place with the highest concentration of leopards in the world.

Day 5 – Yala to Mirissa

After breakfast at the hotel in Yala, we will start on our way to Mirissa.

In the morning we will visit the Kataragama Murugan Kovil, a temple complex dedicated to Buddhist guardian Deity of the island, Kataragama deviyo, and Hindu god of war Murugan. It is one of the rare religious sites venerated by Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and indigenous Vedda people.

On our way, we will make a stop in Kudawella, where the Hummanaya Blow Hole, the only such natural formation in Sri Lanka is located.

Our next stop is in Dondra, where the Dewundara Lighthouse is located. This 19th-century lighthouse is one of just two dozen in the world designed to house the largest class of lighthouse lenses.

In the evening we will enjoy the beautiful Mirissa Beach, which is widely considered one of the best beaches in Sri Lanka.

Day 6 – Mirissa Day Excursion

After breakfast at the hotel in Mirissa, we will engage in activities available in the town.

Mirissa is one of the prime spots for Whale Watching. Every morning at 7 am tour boats disembark from Mirissa Harbor. During the season between November and April, you can see the largest animal ever to grace the Earth, blue whale.

Waters around Mirissa are also a popular Snorkeling spot, particularly near the Parrot Rock, where shallow waters are teeming with life.

Day 7 – Mirissa to Airport

After breakfast at the hotel in Mirissa, we will start the trip to Bandaranaike International Airport

In the morning we will visit Galle Fort, an astonishingly well preserved walled fortress. Originally built by Portuguese in the 16th century, and expanded by Dutch East India Company in the 17th. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a very popular tourist spot.

Along the coast, we will pass through town Kosgoda and embark on a one-hour River Boat Safari. The ride on Madu Ganga River will take us through a marshy mangrove forest of astonishing beauty.
